We look at how a piece is built, what finishes and materials are used, and the practical details that affect how children climb, sleep, play and use it every day.
Finishes tested for chemical compliance
Maxtrix states that its white acrylic paint and natural or chestnut NC lacquer are tested twice — by its suppliers and again by Maxtrix — for chemical compliance with U.S. safety standards.
Formaldehyde & material emissions matter
Across the ranges we select, we pay attention to boards, glues and finishes, and look for supplier documentation showing formaldehyde and other material emissions are kept within applicable safety requirements.
Built beyond U.S. safety requirements
Maxtrix says its bunk and loft beds exceed U.S. safety standards. Its beds are built to withstand more than 350 kg, compared with the approximately 180 kg dead-weight test requirement cited by the brand.
Child-friendly by design
Maxtrix highlights 16" guardrails, grooved ladder steps, sturdy handrails, anti-tip kits and soft-close drawers designed to help protect little fingers. Mattress thickness is also considered because it affects usable guardrail height.
